humble beginings

I have my old clunky computer up and running again(phew! I have always prefered my powerful PC to my husbands little mac book, despite its extreme ugliness) I found these photos on the hard drive. They are the first batch of cakes I made when first starting my cake business a few years ago. I look at these and remember why I love to bake. They were made with love, and were creative. I started my baking business as a direct result of doing "The Artists Way". These days it turns over $200,00 a year, it has the same boring 4 varieties that everyone else makes, I hate it, and it provides me with an income that lets me be a "stay at home mum"....go figure...
Lucky for me, I have started the 3rd book of the Artists Way, "Finding Water", with my freind Mel. Perhaps I will find my direction and happiness again...sigh...

Hello Mz Messy. I think the boxes of cupcakes lined up look very artistic. It is terrible to feel like you are lost in the abyss with no direction. You will find your way. Good luck with the Artists Way.

You sing when you sew??? WOW...I can't imagine!!! (I pretty much hate sewing...not the actual sewing part, but dealing with the machine). Good luck with your dreams and making them all work!

Thanks for posting this - I was interested in how you started in the little cakes business. I'm sorry it's no longer fun. That happens to me too when I start doing my art as a business instead of just for pleasure. I love to draw, but not when someone else is telling me how to do it. It's a tough row - getting to stay at home with your baby may be worth it though!
