Happy Cactus Monday

Not so cactus for me this Monday... To play along and see other cactus mondays go to teri's blog
This flower is in my cactus garden. Its a Native Australian Coastal plant.  Called a "pigface". Its fruit and leaves are edible. My friend Tim stayed at our house for a couple of months way back when we were living in Avalon. He had his kids for the weekend and his daughter picked and planted this plant for me after a walk with her Dad by the ocean. We went to his funeral a few weeks ago. He committed suicide. But his memory lives on, as does this plant.
Here is a link for more info on the plant

Messy Fish I can see why you love cake - you are a master of the cup cake!!! But they are small bite sized morsels of delight rather than having the whole slice of mud cake. It's all about moderation and enjoying the beautiful little things (like your little 'floured' boy) and yes....cup cakes.
Could you come up with some Mediterranean Berry thing? ..could be a goer. Will have to do a 'sensational treats' post. Thanks for visiting my site

What a nice plant to have as a memory of a friend. The bloom looks like many cactus blooms I have seen. Happy Cactus Monday.

OOOh MY! I am so sorry for your loss...very tragic indeed.

A beautiful bloom...This plant reminds me of "ice plant" a coastal succulent... I have a feeling they might be one and the same...??? :)

Sorry for your loss.

A friend gave me some cuttings recently but mine is not happy - still struggling to root. Can't wait for it to spread and flower!

So sad. But I understand how plants can preserve memories. I have flowers in my garden given to me by friends and flowers I plant that remind me of my mother and mother-in-law. They give me great comfort. Judy

I am so sorry about your friend, Messy. This plant sure does look like an ice plant here...seen over in the western U.S. Take care. (I completely forgot about Cactus Monday this week). The day started off with a bang at the dermatologist having places taken off my face! Sun damage from childhood still reeking havok!

My heart goes out to those struggling with depression - I have someone very close to me who struggles with it. It is hard to see them so sad when life is so good. I'm glad you have fond memories and a living reminder of his friendship.

Hi, I was in Bunnings today, and came across Mr Pig Face - and I thought of the comment you left on my blog re ice plant. They look similar! But the ones along the beach & the cutting that I are much larger...

So I did some reading on the net and found that they are the same thing - Pig Face to Aussies...

There were a few colours, and I settled for red :)
