Escaped into the bush again! Running a business and having a toddler is NOT liberation. Thank god mr messyfish helps me or that business would be closed and I would be at work earning money to pay someone else to look after my baby whilst they also looking after many others. (This is not liberation either!) so tell me again.... What exactly was so liberating about letting women join the work force after they marry? Why is it that a mans income is no longer enough to support a family?

I know people that do live on one income. They are very thrifty. It can be done. Take care of yourself. You will make it. Ilike your sketches. Is that your dog??
This is what I want to know!!! I had to work while raising my kids (4)...and now I wish I could continue to stay home and help raise my grandchildren. I think I could by being thrifty...but husband wants that income!!! What to do??? I will stay home as long as I need to to help out my grandkids though...I WILL do that!!!
Good luck with all of the decisions. Staying home with children is always better if you can handle it! It is hard work, for sure!!!
Thanks Lisa, and Julie.I am having a winge because running a business stresses me out so much I cant stand it. I wish I could do it, but honestly I cant. I am going to stay home and be thrifty... but it does scare me. I do like my giant home and all its luxuries though!
there's no easy way - it's kind of a wilderness in itself...
Sometimes you've just got to flex.
As a young mom I did day care out of my home so I could be home with my own kids. So more kids in and it was a business at home. Worked for us.
Personally you are doing a very fine job. As for your drawings I love them both but the 2nd. one of the bush is incredible - just wonderful! Hugs :-)

Love your work messyfish. Life is tough however we all choose our compromises and make the best of them. Count you blessings on a daily basis - little messyfish, mr. messyfish, dog and all of the other fish that swim in your world.
How you approach your life depends on the goals that you establish for your family - your choices. Grandpa messyfish would have said something like that I am sure

I'm hearing you loud and clear! I too struggled with work and raising children. We made ends meet by working opposite shifts. My husband worked nights and I worked days after the kdis were in school. It was not easy, but we made it, raised our own kids (instead of working to pay someone else to) and now have the benefits of decent jobs and well adjusted adult children. I don't know about running business from home, I've never done that but it sounds hard. I think your decision to live on less is a good one. May not be for everyone but it would have worked for me too.
