Cicada craft

I took little messyfish to a local mainstream Playgroup. Whilst the amount of plastic toys and plastic eating implements is unnecessary, we are after all in the country... How can can it be?????
I was impressed by the spontaneous craft that took place. The cicadas are all coming out of the ground at present. So it's exciting to find cicadas everywhere. There are lots of shells too. The kids painted them and spinkled them with glitter! I think they look marvelous.
Not much else but being a mum going on at the moment. Seems very fulltime right now. Which is wonderful but a little suffocating to my inner artist.

Thats what my boys did yesterday. I was going to post about it today but I'm to tried to many photos to sort through.
This Blogtober thing is harder than I thought.

You need to get in there and get your fingers full of paint. It looks like fun. Another thing you can do with those little cases is squirt glue that dries clear into the cavity and smush glass beads into the cavity. When it dries you have a cicada carrying jewels. Pretty I think. I was given one of these with the cicada glued to a piece of bark. It was neat.

My boy would be in his element with all those cicadas. I must show him this!

That is a great idea. We have them everywhere. We go out in the morning to count them, tomorrow I will pick up a few and we will paint.

Hahahahahaha! I have never seen cicada shells used in crafts before. But why NOT?! They are fantastic! I remember the very loud sound of them and how my kids were initially afraid to go into the park because of that noise.

I think the cicadas would be delighted to see their former selves so glam, don't you?
